Ahhh, Spring. A time of rebirth, blooming, and discovery. Sure, that discovery is usually landmines of dog poop that are indistinguishable from the mud created by winter rain. But hey...it's warmer! Somewhere else. Not in Chicago, but we hear it gets warm in some places! And those places have people with less character, we mutter to ourselves while walking in a thunder snow through St. Patrick's Day revelers. We're made of tougher stuff.
Welcome to Write Club: Spring In Your Schlep
Here is your lineup:
SINK (Keith Ecker) v SWIM (Delilah Orizaba)
LEPRECHAUNS (Sam Bailey) v UNICORNS (Omer Abbas Salem)
BIRDS (Elana Elyce) v BEES (Jorge Silva)
In this, the infuriatingly dumbest of timelines, your words and voices are the very tools to help build us up and shake us out of our old ways of thinking. You, the artists, are the ones who make us laugh, think, and strive for better.
Write Club has long been a bastion of hope (among other things) in a weary, angry, divided world. It is lampooning and honoring and skewering and slicing and dicing all matters going straight to the heart and to the audience's earholes and soul holes. Yep. Soul Holes.
We gather at GMan Tavern to see other people, look them in the eye and ask, “are you hearing this too?!” and they are. And you’ll be forever changed for having heard it. Well known or obscure, our performers are the best of the best, and you got to hear their words. On a Tuesday night in Wrigleyville. We think that’s pretty goddamned magical. But not magical enough to be there on St. Patrick’s Day, so our show is MARCH 10th.
